The Lövö bridge is part of the Finnish Transport Agency's plan to replace cable ferries with bridges in the Turku Archipelago in Southwest Finland. The nearly 500 metres long composite girder bridge with a reinforced concrete deck connects the islands of Söljeholmen and Lövö. It is eight metres wide and the maximum span length is 100 metres. During the summer, 98% of vessels are able to pass under the 18 metres high bridge. Higher sailing boats must sail around the islands using the route south of Kasnäs.

4 p7 m5 K& e& @ l" X2 ]4 t4 c% {Ramboll is responsible for the structural design of the Lövö bridge. Skanska Infra Oy is the general contractor, and Ruukki manufactured the steel structures. Designing the bridge was particularly challenging because of the span length and demanding marine conditions, such as pressure from ice which exerts stress on the structures. The bridge needs a steady foundation: the piles reach up to 20 metres below the surface, and the piers rise almost the same height above the water. The steel bridge is massive: it has a collision capacity of up to 300 tonnes.$ S! S* Z2 X' H
